EMBEDDED QUESTIONS
When it comes to a yes or no question, that connector will be WHETHER or IF, whichever you prefer.
When you ask a yes or no question, the connector you use in indirect questions in English corresponds to a word that does not appear in the direct question.
You can reproduce this double structure by replacing the direct question with both an affirmative and a negative sentence. But, of course, in this case, the context will tell you if it is a much more indirect question than the previous ones or simply the expression of a subjective aspect on the part of the person who says it.
